When you first move to your deserted island in Animal Crossing, you'll notice many natural objects populating the land including rocks, flowers, and — most importantly — trees.

Of all the nature in New Horizons, trees are by far the most essential. They help you earn money, craft objects, decorate your town, and more. We're here to dive into all the details behind them now, from the basic uses to the more advanced ones.

It's time to board the next plane to your new town; Here is everything you should know about trees.

10 There Are Many Types Of Trees

The most basic tree in the game, the Oak Tree, will be populating the main parts of your island upon moving there.

In the elevated levels of your town, you'll instead find Cedar Trees. Though both of these trees have different looks, their uses are essentially the same.

If a tree isn't an Oak or Cedar, it's a fruit tree. Traditional Fruit Trees look like Oaks but grow fruit. The final type of tree that can end up in your town is a Palm Tree, best known for growing coconuts.

9 You Can Make Money With Foreign Fruit Trees

There will be a single type of Fruit Tree scattered across your new island. It can either grow cherries, apples, oranges, pears, or peaches. This is a native fruit.

The Nooklings will buy each piece of native fruit for 100 bells each. If you acquire foreign fruit, however, the price they pay will be much higher.

Foreign fruit can be found on Mystery Island Tours, taken from friends' islands, or given to players by their neighbors or Mom. While coconuts will only sell for 250 bells, the rest of the foreign fruit will go for 500 bells each, so get busy planting!

8 Growing Trees Is Easy

If you want to grow a Fruit Tree, you'll have to bury a piece of fruit in a hole with your shovel. If you want to grow an Oak Tree or Cedar Tree, you'll have to plant a sapling, which can be purchased from Nook's Cranny or occasionally discovered in the recycling box at Resident Services.

Trees must have at least one empty block of space around them in all directions in order to grow. If you plant a sapling in a wrong spot, you can move it by digging it up with your shovel.

Planted saplings take three days to grow into a full-sized tree and four days to bear fruit. After the fruit is picked, more will grow back in another three days.

7 Money Can Grow On Trees

The one type of tree we didn't mention is the Money Tree. Though this tree looks like an Oak, it will produce three bags of bells a single time after it is planted.

In order to plant a money tree, you'll have to dig up the 1,000 bells from the glowing spot hidden somewhere in your town every day. Plant more bells in that same spot, and a few days later, there will be three bell bags growing on the newly grown tree.

If you plant 10,000, you will be guaranteed that three bags of bells worth 10,000 each will grow on a tree. If you plant more than 10,000, the number of bells growing on the tree will be more random.

6 Furniture Can Fall Out Of Trees

Every day, two pieces of furniture will be hidden among your town trees. The items are random, but the reward is great as acquiring this furniture would normally require you to spend lots of bells at Nook's Cranny.

The furniture is always hidden in a non-fruit tree and will randomly fall out after you shake it.

5 Some Bugs Can Only Be Found In Trees

While many bugs can be found flying around town, sitting on a rock, or hiding in the flowers, there are some species that can only be discovered on or in trees.

Bugs like the Walking Stick and Saw Stag are known to cling to the trunks of trees. Others like spiders and bagworms fall from a shaken tree. Finally, species like the Jewel Beetle and Violin Beetle are found exclusively on tree stumps.

4 You Can Get Crafting Resources From Trees

One of the most basic crafting materials in New Horizons is the tree branch. These can be found laying under trees randomly or by shaking them. There is no limit to how many branches can be harvested from a single tree, so keep shakin'.

The other primary resource that can be harvested from trees is wood. There are three types of wood, and up to three pieces can be taken from a single tree at a time by chopping at it with an Axe. While a tree will be cut down if you hit it too many times with a regular Axe, a Flimsy Axe can be used to collect tree resources without knocking it down in the process.

The final resource that can be gotten by shaking a tree is a Wasp Nest. Be careful because wasps will sting you. But after they leave, you can harvest their nests to make medicine and special items.

3 Bells Can Be Found In Trees

As fun as it is to find a new bug or a branch inside a tree, it's even more fun to find bells.

Bells aren't just found in money trees; They're also found in regular trees. When you shake a tree, 100 bells will fall out at random. Though this isn't a lot, it adds up quickly if you shake multiple trees in a row.

2 You Can Move Trees

If you're not happy with where a tree is in your town you can cut it down. If you'd rather save it, however, New Horizons will allow you to move it.

All you have to do is eat a piece of fruit, and you'll be able to pick up a tree with your shovel. Replant it in a new location, and you're done!

1 Trees Change With The Season

As the seasons change, so do the trees.

Because Animal Crossing syncs up with the regular clock, the trees change looks throughout the year.

In the Northern Hemisphere, trees will be lush and green in the summer and covered in snow in the winter. Cedar trees will gain Christmas lights around the holiday season, and during Cherry Blossom Season from April 1 to April 10, Oaks will be covered in pink petals. They sure know how to dress up.
